The Financial Aid Office is here to assist you in the application process for all types of financial aid.  We award both federal and state funds as well as institutional scholarships.  Financial Aid is available to eligible students in the forms of grants, scholarships, loans and work study programs.  Available grants including the Pell Grant, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG), Alabama Student Assistance Program, and Scholarships are offered to both new and continuing students.  There are also different types of student loans available to students and parents.

To be considered for federal and state financial aid, you must be admitted to the college and complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  The FAFSA should include Chattahoochee Valley Community College federal school code (012182).

Chattahoochee Valley Community College is a community college in Phenix City, Alabama, United States. It serves residents of Russell County and parts of Bullock, Lee, Macon, and Barbour Counties, as well as the Columbus, Georgia metropolitan area. Since 1975 it has shared its campus with Troy University's Phenix City Campus.
The College was established in 1973 as the Chattahoochee Valley State Junior College by an act of the Alabama State Legislature. It opened in January 1974 in a temporary location with 280 students, and in April 1974 had 1,239 students. Local residents donated 103 acres (42 ha) of land for the College's permanent buildings. By 1976, the College had five new permanent buildings and 15 temporary buildings. The College has nine permanent buildings, the newest being the Instructional & Performing Arts Center (IPAC).
In the 1980s, the "junior" in the college's name was changed to "community". In 1996, the "state" was dropped, resulting in the current name, Chattahoochee Valley Community College.
The first president was Dr. Ralph M. Savage, appointed in October 1973. Subsequent presidents were Dr. James Owen (1980 until 1993), Dr. Richard Federinko (1993 to 2002), Dr. Laurel Blackwell (2003-2010) and Dr. Glen Cannon (2011-2014). The current interim president is Mr. Mark Ellard.
The Chattahoochee Valley Community College Foundation, an organization associated with the College, raises funds for student scholarships.

OTHER FORMS OF FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
Alabama Automotive Manufacturing Association (AAMA) Dr. Bernard J. Schroer Scholarships
The AAMA Dr. Bernard J. Schroer Scholarship is facilitated through the Consortium for Alabama Regional Center for Automotive Manufacturing (CARCAM) and supports individuals pursuing a career/technical education certificate or associate degree in the Alabama Community College System in preparation for a career in the automotive manufacturing industry. Alabama Scholarships for Dependents of Blind Parents
Students who are Alabama residents and from families in which the head of the family is blind and whose family income is insufficient to provide educational benefits for attendance at an Alabama postsecondary institution are eligible to apply for this scholarship program. Students must apply within two years of high school graduation. Applications are available from the Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services, 2129 East South Boulevard, Montgomery, Alabama 36116-2455.
Employee/Dependent Tuition Waiver
This program covers tuition only. The waiver does not cover additional expenses such as fees, books, and supplies. This program is designed for all full-time and Salary Schedule H-35 employees of the Alabama Community College System and the Alabama Community System Office and their dependents.
GED Scholarship Program
GED recipients may qualify for one free class (up to 3 credit hours) at Central Alabama following receipt of official scores verifying successful completion of the GED after July 2002. Eligibility is determined by the Alabama Community System Office, which is the State Office for the GED Testing Program. Upon registering for college courses at the College, GED recipients should contact the Financial Aid Office regarding this scholarship.
Operation Family Shield Scholarship Program
The Operation Family Shield Scholarship Program was established in 2003 for spouses and dependents of the Alabama National Guard or reservists called to active duty. The scholarship has been expanded in support of Operation Noble Eagle, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and the Global War on Terrorism. The scholarship provides tuition (excluding fees) during the term of the activation. Tuition scholarships shall be available only after all other forms of federal financial assistance have been exhausted. Applicants must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Documentation required includes official copies of military orders, marriage licenses, birth certificates, and IRS tax returns. Certification from the appropriate military office should be obtained each semester to verify continued activation. For additional information, contact the Financial Aid Office.
Police Officer and Firefighter Survivor Educational Assistance Program
Students who are dependents or spouses of police officers or firefighters killed in the line of duty in Alabama are eligible to apply for this scholarship program. The student must be enrolled in an undergraduate program at a public postsecondary educational institution in Alabama. Other special eligibility criteria apply. Application forms may be obtained from the Alabama Commission on Higher Education, P.O. Box 302000, Montgomery, Alabama 36130-2000, phone 334/242-2273.
Senior Adult Scholarship Program
Any student meeting institutional admission requirements who is 60 years of age or older is eligible for the Senior Adult Scholarship Program, which covers tuition only. The scholarship does not cover other expenses such as fees, books, and supplies. This scholarship can only be used for developmental and credit courses. Scholarships are limited based on availability of space. Persons living on a fixed income should complete the Free Application for Federal Student Assistance (FAFSA) to apply for additional financial assistance to help defray the cost of fees, transportation and books.

• Official and Unofficial Withdrawals  Students who receive federal financial aid (Pell Grant, SEOG, and Direct Loans) may have their financial aid adjusted if they have a complete withdrawal during the semester. In addition, students who have a complete withdrawal status prior to the disbursement of aid for the semester may also result in an adjustment. This adjustment would be made based on assistance earned up to the point of withdrawal. Central Alabama Community College (CACC) is a two-year institution of higher learning located in Alexander City, Alabama.The college enrolls 2,177 students and has been accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools since 1969.As of 2009, the college has three campuses: the Alexander City Campus, the Childersburg Campus, and the Talladega Center.
History

CACC traces its history to the Alabama State Legislature Act No. 93 passed in 1963 which provided for the establishment of several institutions of higher learning in Alabama. The college opened as Alexander City State Junior College in 1965 in the old Russell Hospital in Alexander City. In 1966 the college moved to its current campus in a dedication ceremony led by then-Governor George Corley Wallace. Also in 1966, the state opened Nunnelley State Technical College in Childersburg, Alabama as part of the No. 93 Act of 1963. In 1989 the Alabama State Board of Education merged the technical college and the junior college to form the present day community college.

Nursing school

In 1921 the Sylacauga School of Nursing was founded as hospital diploma program. The school was later renamed as Coosa Valley School of Nursing (CVSN) in 1994 began offering associate's degrees in nursing. CVSN had partnered with CACC since 1972 in various academic programs and in 1996 merged with CACC.

CACC fields teams in men's golf and baseball and women's tennis and softball in the Alabama Community College Conference.
