Financial Aid
What is Financial Aid?
Financial assistance is money to help you and your family cover educational expenses. It is intended to supplement (not replace) the amount you and your family can afford. Keep in mind that it is ultimately the responsibility of you and your family to finance your education. Financial assistance comes from a variety of sources, including federal, state, and local funds. Grants, scholarships, and work-study programs are the main types of assistance available to you. Bevill State Community College does not participate in any federal student loan programs.
How Does It Work?
To be considered for most types of financial assistance, you must first complete a form called the “Free Application for Federal Student Aid” which is available in the Office of Student Services or online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Bevill State's Institution Code is 005733 (section six (6) on the FAFSA).
When Do I Apply for Financial Aid?
It is important that you complete the FAFSA application as soon as possible. Remember, you must fill out a FAFSA form each year to be considered for financial assistance. Bevill State encourages students to apply as soon as possible after October 1 for the upcoming academic year. Once you have filled out the FAFSA, we encourage you to fill out the Bevill State online scholarship application to be eligible for additional funds.
How is Financial Aid Calculated?
Your need analysis form will be evaluated by a confidential aid application processor. Using a standard formula, set by the government, the processor will determine the amount that your family can afford to pay for educational expenses. They will consider income, expenses, assets, and any special circumstances. The amount of aid for which you are eligible is calculated by subtracting the amount you and your family can contribute (called your Expected Family Contribution, or EFC) from the annual cost of your education, which includes tuition, fees, books, and living expenses. The difference between your education expenses and your EFC is called “need.”
I'm Approved...What Next?
Upon approval, you will receive a Student Aid Report (a form sent to you from the financial aid processing center) by mail or email.
It is your responsibility to submit the Student Aid Report to Financial Aid personnel located in the Office of Student Services at the campus you plan to attend with a signed Disbursement Procedure Form
Once the forms are received, you may be required to provide other information to verify what you have reported on the forms. You may be asked to bring in your tax returns, non-taxable income documentation, financial aid transcript from previously attended institutions and possibly other information.
Where Can I Review My Financial Aid Status?
You can view your financial aid awards, documents needed to complete your application and other important information at myBSCC. Contact the Office of Student Services for information on a student I.D. and password.

History
Bevill State Community College is a part of the State system of community, junior, and technical colleges authorized by the Alabama Legislature under Act No. 93, approved May 3, 1963. At the same time, Act No. 94 vested the authority and responsibility for the operation and maintenance of the state two-year colleges with the State Board of Education.
Bevill State Community College was created in 1992, by the consolidation of two premier two-year colleges which were a part of the original legislation: Walker State Technical College, formerly a vocational/technical institution which opened in 1966, and Brewer State Junior College, a two-year academic transfer institution, created in 1969. The Hamilton Campus of Northwest Alabama Community College, primarily a vocational/technical campus which was created in 1966, merged with Bevill State Community College in 1993 as one of its main campuses. UAB/Walker College, established in 1938 as an academic transfer college, completed the Bevill State four-campus college in 1998.
The four main campuses, and one instructional site, offer university parallel and applied technology educational opportunities to over one-quarter million people in a seven county area. Bevill State's service area spans over 4,600 square miles, from the Birmingham city limits to the Mississippi state line.

A bachelor's degree in Sweden is 3 years old and in some disciplines it may take 4 years. The language of study in Sweden at the undergraduate level can be either Swedish or English depending on the chosen field and university. Students applying for study in Sweden must have student insurance.
Graduate student insurance will be free after a year. There is also the possibility of a student dormitory at Swedish universities. Almost most universities are assigned to undergraduate students, especially students of the first year of student dormitory, to get to know the environment and find a home or apartment around the university, if they wish.
According to Swedish law, there are 20 hours of student work available for undergraduate students. Applicants with a maximum of 20 years of age and a pre-university degree can apply for a bachelor's degree in Sweden.

What does it take to qualify for admission to AUM?
There are a number of ways to be admitted to AUM, whether you are a traditional high school student, looking to go back to college after several years or looking to transfer from another institution. No matter your circumstances, we want to make this as easy as possible.
Admissions Requirements
Freshman
2.3 GPA (min.)
Unweighted, High School
ACT 18 /SAT 940 (min)
Transfer
2.0 GPA (min.) and
24 hours completed
course work (min.)*
Bridge

17/SAT 900 (min.) or
2.0 GPA (min.) + ACT
18/SAT 940 (min.)
*Transfer students with fewer than 24 hours of course work must meet freshman admission requirements.
Apply in Three Simple Steps
1. Fill out the online application. It's easy and it's free. You will need to create an account if you are visiting the page for the first time.
2. Submit your ACT/SAT scores. You can have the testing agency submit your test scores directly to AUM, or you can submit your scores yourself. It is important that you use AUM's College Board (CEEB) codes: SAT — 1036; ACT — 0057.
3. Have your high school send your official transcript. Ask your high school guidance counselor to submit your official transcript to AUM. It's ok if you haven't graduated yet, though they will need to submit your official four-year transcript once you graduate. If you have attended any other colleges or universities, or earned dual credits, ask the registrar to send us those official transcripts to this address:

GIVEN OUT IN SCHOLARSHIPS AND FINANCIAL AID
Paying for college is a hot topic among students and parents these days. And it’s true that college is a serious investment in your future. If you’re asking “is college worth the cost?” the answer is still a resounding yes. A college graduate will earn significantly more over the course of a lifetime than someone without a college education. On top of that, finishing your education will open the door to opportunities that simply aren't available without the degree. You'll have more choices, simple as that.
With proper planning — including identifying and taking advantage of grants, student loans and work-study opportunities — there are many ways to finance your college degree that make sense.
In addition to financial aid, AUM offers several scholarships. In fact, we awarded more than $2 million dollars in scholarships last year.
We recommend starting early as students must be admitted by March 1 to be eligible for many opportunities. We also offer an outstanding out-of-state scholarship that can help bring tuition inline with in-state tuition for students meeting the requirements.
The AUM Financial Aid Office provides a variety of services to help you finance your education. From grants to student loans, to college work-study, we offer more than $40 million in financial assistance to students annually.

The length of the master's degree in Sweden is 1 or 2 years depending on the degree and the applicant's university, during this time period. The language of study, especially in postgraduate studies, is mostly in English.
The beginning of the semester is September or January. Student insurance for this course is also free after one year. Usually universities also provide dormitories for students' residency.
Students can also work part-time and 20 hours a week. Having an IELTS academic score of at least 6.5 is required for admission in this course, although it is also possible to take a language course.

- Check your AUM email account often: Your AUM email account is the official mode of communication for the university. Be sure to check your email account on a regular basis. If additional information or documentation is needed once you have submitted your FAFSA, an email request will be sent to you.

Your aid package will be based on the information provided on the FAFSA, as well as, institutional information. An award information email will be sent once you have been awarded. Vision and Mission Statement
Our Vision
Auburn University will emerge as one of the nation's preeminent comprehensive land-grant universities in the 21st century. Central to all its functions will be the University's historic commitment of service to all Alabamians as the State becomes a part of a global society with all of its challenges and opportunities. The University will be widely recognized for the quality of its undergraduate, graduate and professional educational programs, the effectiveness of its research and outreach programs and the broad access to the University provided through the innovative use of information technology. The University will ensure the quality of its programs through the careful focusing of its resources in areas of institutional strengths. One constant will remain unchanged at the University--that intangible quality Auburn men and women call the "Auburn Spirit."
Our Mission
Auburn University's mission is defined by its land-grant traditions of service and access. The University will serve the citizens of the State through its instructional, research and outreach programs and prepare Alabamians to respond successfully to the challenges of a global economy. The University will provide traditional and non-traditional students broad access to the institution's educational resources. In the delivery of educational programs on campus and beyond, the University will draw heavily upon the new instructional and outreach technologies available in the emerging information age.
As a comprehensive university, Auburn University is committed to offering high-quality undergraduate, graduate, and professional education to its students. The University will give highest priority for resource allocation for the future development of those areas that represent the traditional strengths, quality, reputation, and uniqueness of the institution and that continue to effectively respond to the needs of students and other constituents. Consistent with this commitment, the University will emphasize a broad and superior undergraduate education that imparts the knowledge, skills, and values so essential to educated and responsible citizens. At the same time, the University will provide high-quality graduate and professional programs in areas of need and importance to the state and beyond. To accomplish these educational goals, Auburn University will continue to compete nationally to attract a faculty distinguished by its commitment to teaching and by its achievements in research, both pure and applied. The University will strive to attract a faculty that will bring distinction and stature to the undergraduate, graduate and professional programs offered by the University. Auburn University recognizes the importance of promoting an inclusive and diverse environment that supports the growth and success of all. We believe that the contributions of diverse cultures, ideas, and life experiences combine to create an enriched and engaged campus community for the Auburn Family.
Because research is essential to the mission of a land-grant university, Auburn University will continue development of its research programs. The primary focus of this research will be directed to the solution of problems and the development of knowledge and technology important to the state and nation and to the quality of life of Alabama citizens. The University's research programs will make important contributions to instructional programs through the involvement of graduate and undergraduate students and the renewal of the faculty. Research will also provide the knowledge base for outreach programs. In carrying out its research mission, the University will emphasize established areas of strength and will focus available resources in those areas of research and doctoral study that are, or have the potential to develop into nationally and internationally recognized centers of excellence. Extension and outreach programs are fundamental to the land-grant mission because these programs directly affect the lives of all citizens in the state. The University will maintain the strengths of its traditional outreach programs and will increasingly involve the broader University in outreach programs that respond to the changing needs of the society in which we live. The University will continue to seek new and innovative ways to reach out to the people it serves.
