  Discover the University of Arizona
Posted by: scholar - 09-16-2017, 08:08 AM - Forum: Universities of Arizona - No Replies

The University of Arizona (UA) is a place without limits — where teaching, research, service, and innovation merge to improve lives in Arizona and beyond. We aren't afraid to ask bigger questions, to get better answers.

Established in 1885, the University of Arizona, the state's super land-grant university with two medical schools, produces graduates who are real-world ready through its 100% Engagement initiative. Recognized as a global leader, the UA is also a leader in research, bringing more than $606 million in research investment each year, and ranking 21st among all public universities. The UA is advancing the frontiers of interdisciplinary scholarship and entrepreneurial partnerships and is a member of the Association of American Universities, the 62 leading public and private research universities. It benefits the state with an estimated economic impact of $8.3 billion annually.

We're innovators and discoverers.
Establishing Arizona's first university in the middle of the Sonoran Desert was a bold move. But our founders were fearless, and we have never lost that spirit. To this day, we're revolutionizing the fields of space sciences, optics, biosciences, medicine, arts and humanities, business, technology transfer, and many others. Since it was founded, the UA has grown to cover more than 380 acres in central Tucson, a rich breeding ground for discovery.
Where else in the world can you find an astronomical observatory mirror lab under a football stadium? An entire ecosystem under a glass dome? Who else is bringing back samples from asteroids? Visit our campus just once, and you'll quickly understand why the UA is a university unlike any other.
Here, "Bear Down" is more than just a motto.
Before UA student body president and revered football quarterback John "Button" Salmon died in 1926, his last words to his teammates were, "Tell them ... tell the team to bear down." Whether it's academics, athletics, or research, we've adopted the stance that when the going gets tough, the tough #BearDown.

Our curiosity knows no bounds.
As a leading-edge public research university, we're inspired to explore humanity's most fundamental questions—about science, medicine, the arts, and business. Our faculty includes members of esteemed national academies, Pulitzer and Nobel Prize winners, White House Champions of Change, and celebrated thought leaders in numerous disciplines. We are leading projects that will change how we see the world, such as the OSIRIS-REx mission, which will scoop samples from a near-Earth asteroid in 2020.
We're partners with the community.
Whether we're teaming up with local schools to improve K–12 education, or working with rural communities to improve the health of residents, we're helping society meet its grand challenges.
The UA's Tech Parks are where dynamic innovators and business leaders work side by side to test and develop new technologies. The Banner – University Medical Center is a 479-bed hospital that has been ranked among the nation's best hospitals by US News & World Report for more than a decade. Between the UA’s research, outreach, and the UA’s Tech Parks, we generate $8.3 billion of economic activity in Arizona, annually.
Our graduates are accomplished.
At the UA, 100 percent of our undergraduates will have the opportunity to apply their knowledge and act on their dreams through internships, fieldwork, community service, student leadership, the developing of original works, and by collaborating within research opportunities. Our mission is to graduate students who are sought after by the best employers and postgraduate programs, and who are ready to embark on meaningful careers.
Equipped with skills, knowledge, experience and the entrepreneurial spirit they gain at the UA, our students become highly skilled members of society who lead with determination, innovate without limits, and create companies that generate more jobs, exponentially benefitting our state, our nation, and the world. Our alumni include astronauts and actors; Grammy, Tony, Emmy, and Oscar winners; media stars; Olympic athletes; Fortune 500 CEOs; public servants; Nobel scientists; inventors, and best-selling authors.
We're thinkers and doers.
From the heart of the Southwest to the edges of the universe, there are no limits to how far we can reach. We'll never stop pushing to make sense of the world and to find ways to make it better. At the University of Arizona, we have the power to make a difference.

  Tips for newcomers to Canada:
Posted by: scholar - 07-25-2017, 03:30 PM - Forum: General discussion in Canada universities - No Replies

The emergency number, for fire and the police are 911 and the phone number is 411
The electricity here is 110 volts. Do not bring electricity equipment from other country that do not support 110 volts.
Do not stand in front of people while you're in the queue and touch your head with your nose. Usually the size of two meters behind the person who is doing it should be distance. The more you get away from people, especially in public quarters and public places. You should have a meter distance with someone you talk to
Try not to work with others. Everyone here thinks about herself and herself, and you should be so that you do not hurt
Life is simple here and there is no news of luxury
If you see a strange point in public places, for example, you have seen two men kissing their mouths, or having an old man wearing a bridal dress, or an adult girl sitting on the back of his boyfriend's boyfriend, stop dazzling and taking photos very hard. So, so long as someone does not violate anyone's rights, anyone does not have anyone, and people refrain from judging, so do not hurt the nation.
There's nobody here hungry, no, nobody wants it
The questions about the personal issues are misleading people, if they want to themselves will tell you. If someone asks you, you do not need to tell all the details
Know your rights and use them with non-war tolerance
If you do not want to answer the question so easily ask the questioner why he has questioned. Sometimes the party does not understand
Here are the people in your eyes, the eyes that smells make me smile nobody is a creditor and do not want to drop it
If you look at someone directly, look at it directly, otherwise you might think that you do not speak honestly or want to hide something.
Respect the bosses and smile, but do not sacrifice your charity like in your hometown.
Individual health is very important here. The smell of sweat and mouth smell is one of the things that can be easily reminded, especially in the workplace. If you are so poor everyday, but every day you shower and change their clothes every day.
Never work on the same dress the previous day
Learn English from anything more important. There are ESL and Link classes, but not much talk. Radio TVs help a lot. Listen to the CBC radio on the car. It's all about talking and giving good info. Use closed caption subtitles
Here is someone about the age of religious rights and where we are, we have no right to ask questions.
The address of the houses Dr is the drive not the doctor!
Do not be ashamed of the lack of knowledge of the language, and do not be afraid of anything that someone says you should confirm or never refuse to accept the sentence completely, not confirm, not to apologize or apologize. Always consider this Have your mother tongue easy to speak, so someone who speaks English is not your preference. The same effort to learn and speak your own second language is appreciated!
If you find a lovely kid somewhere, you can only say with a smile, do not touch the baby, do not kneel or kneel it.
In the rented home, the owner should provide gas and refrigerator and heat
Statistics on allergies and allergies in Canada are high. Do not even use perfume and cosmetics in the public or workplace here.
The plain of western and northern and southern eastern and southern plains.
To open the rear door of some buses, you must step down and press the door
In the winter snow season, you should not park the car on the street because it prevents snowmobile operations with special vehicles and fines.
In streets with no sign of speed, the maximum speed is 50
Regardless of the length of the police station, you can have more than 5 years of driving deprivation with a court order.
When the police stop at you, stop the car after stopping. Sit down so that the police will ask you to get your documents.
If you ride each of the TTC lines, you can take the transponder sheet and link to the next TTC line if it goes along Ulton's path.
Getting your mouth on your sneeze should hold your arm ahead of your mouth, not your palm, otherwise you will get unawares!
